Help remove invasive plants at Pine Bend SNA. July 28, 6-8 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to remove invasive plants, spotted knapweed and hoary allysum, from Pine Bend Scientific and Natural Area July 28.

Join Friends of the Mississippi River Thursday, July 28th, 6 to 8 p.m. to help protect Pine Bend Bluffs Scientific & Natural Area (SNA), an award-winning restoration site known for some of the best views of the Upper Mississippi River.

Volunteers will remove spotted knapweed and hoary allysum, two invasive species encroaching on the native prairie. Minnesota's native bees and local wildlife depend on this rare habitat. Plus, with their deeper root systems, the native prairie plants better control erosion and filter pollution that would otherwise run down the Pine Bend Bluffs into the Mississippi River below.

To ensure a high quality experience, capacity is limited and preregistration required. For more information, including how to register, please visit visit:http://fmr.org/events/2016/07/21/remove-invasive-species-pine-bend-bluffs-sna
