Hwy 52 Pavement Improvement Project

Fifth Weekend Directional Closures of Hwy 52 begins May 21

If you are traveling on Hwy 52 between I-94 in St. Paul and I-494 in Inver Grove Heights you can expect another detour this weekend; this weekend it will be southbound Hwy 52, weather permitting.

Beginning at 9 p.m. Fri, May 21, southbound Hwy 52 will be closed between I-94 in St. Paul and I-494 in Inver Grove Heights through 5 a.m. Mon, May 24. You can expect to encounter lane and ramp closures to begin prior to the full closure at 9 p.m.

• Detour: During the closure, motorists should follow the signed detour using I-94, southbound Hwy 61 and westbound I-494 or southbound I-35E, eastbound Hwy 62 and eastbound I-494 to access northbound Hwy 52.

Ramp Closures

During the weekend closure the following ramps will also be closed at least one hour prior to the mainline road closure:

• I-94 to SB Hwy 52
• I-35E to SB Hwy 52
• SB Hwy 52 to Butler Ave.
• SB Hwy 52 to Thompson is Ave.
• SB Hwy 52 to Southview Blvd.

Beginning at 6 a.m. Mon, May 24 the following ramps will also close, southbound Hwy 52 to Thompson Ave. and the Mendota Rd. ramp to southbound Hwy 52. These ramps will reopen by 12 p.m., Fri, May 28.

This closure is the fifth of seven weekend directional closures on Hwy 52. Please visit 511mn.org for help planning around this and all other metro interstate and highway closures.

About this Project

While crews have Hwy 52 closed, they will be resurfacing the road between I-494 in Inver Grove Heights and Hwy 156/Concord St. in St. Paul as well as repairing concrete between Concord St. and Plato Blvd. in St. Paul. During construction there will also be several ramp closures in this area that will last up to one week.
