Inver Grove Heights Police Identify Victim In Fatal Hit-And-Run

An arrest was made one day after the crash that left a 25-year resident of Inver Grove Heights dead.

INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, MN — Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal hit-and-run in Inver Grove Heights. Haimanot Gebremedhin, 55, was killed in the collision.

Gebremedhin was a 25-year resident of Inver Grove Heights.

Police made an arrest one day after the Jan. 5 crash. On Jan. 6, Breyona Cotton, 30, of Inver Grove Heights turned herself in. Cotton admitted she was the driver of the car that struck and killed Gebremedhin, according to authorities.

Cotton said she saw a social media post related to the incident and decided to turn herself in and tell her version of events. She was booked and released to her attorney while the investigation continues.
