Men Charged With Multiple Felonies in South St. Paul Home Invasion

Three Twin Cities men have each been charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and first-degree burglary in connection with a home invasion in South St. Paul on May 18.

Arlin Maurice Thunder, 38, Robert George Head, 30, and Soloman Daniel Campbell, 28, along with an unknown fourth perpetrator allegedly broke into a home and grabbed armfuls of valuable items before assaulting two male residents with a metal pipe.  

According a Dakota County criminal complaint, upon arrival South St. Paul police witnessed three men flee the home in opposite directions.

The fourth man, Campbell, complied with the responding officer's request to stop and was taken into custody while holding a laptop computer.

Police apprehended Thunder and Head shortly after they fled the scene. Head was found with a wallet belonging to one of the victim's and a loaded .9 millimeter magazine in his possession; Thunder's clothing was spattered with blood.

A bloody metal pipe was later recovered under an overpass.  

According to the complaint, police found two victims beaten and bloodied inside the residence.

One of the victims was found unconscious, shirtless and covered in blood. The complaint says he had several wounds to the head and appeared to have broken ribs. 

The second victim told police the men forced him to the ground at gunpoint and proceeded to assault him with a metal pipe. 

Both victims were transported to Regions Hospital. 

The alleged perpetrators are currently being held in Dakota County Jail on $600,000 bail. 

Head and Thunder are scheduled to appear at omnibus hearings on June 12. Campbell is scheduled to appear June 26.

If convicted of the most serious offense—first degree burglary—the men could each face up to 20 years in prison and be ordered to pay a $35,000 fine.
