Like you, I'm frustrated with the gridlock in Washington. Throughout the week I've taken phone calls and spoken with many of you about the government shutdown. I've voted multiple times to fully fund the government -- proposals that have passed in the House with bipartisan support. People are tired of the fingerpointing and bickering and it's important for all sides to actually sit down and talk to discuss a resolution. All sides need to come to the table for real discussions, including the President and legislative leaders.
There are ways forward and I believe one element that has strong bipartisan support is repealing the medical device tax that is part of Obamacare. It's no secret that this tax is jeopardizing America's global leadership in medical innovation, is harming some of Minnesota's best job providers, and has resulted in 10,000 layoffs around the country. I'm working behind the scenes to resolve the budget impasse and ensure Americans receive the critical government services they need.
