Come One, Come All to Long Lake's 'SummerFest' this Weekend

The 2013 edition of Long Lake's popular SummerFest hits full stride today and continues through the weekend. Thousands are expected to visit the area during three days of food, fun and family-friendly activities.

Organized by the Long Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and supported by a long list of local businesses, SummerFest has become an annual tradition in Long Lake and come to involve dozens of local civic organizations, merchants and community supporters.

Thursday, June 13

• Broasted Chicken Dinner at Nelson Lakeside Park (beach on Long Lake). Sponsored by Lake Community Bank.
• Shockwaves Waterski Show, 7 p.m. (new day!) at Nelson Lakeside Park

Friday, June 14

• Gear West Twilight 5K: Pre-register prior to June 14 at Gear West ($15/runner). Race Day Registration ($20) from 6-7pm at Gear West. Number pick up for all runners Friday is from 6-7 p.m. at Gear West. Race begins at 7:30 p.m. at Nelson Lakeside Park in Long Lake. Pre-registered runners receive a T-shirt. 
• All-Orono Class Reunion at The Red Rooster on Mill Street. Live Music by LeCaw from 8 p.m. until close. Non-Orono grads welcome.

Saturday, June 15

• Big Bang Saturday at Nelson Lakeside Park.

1. Free admission to the park
2. Free Beach Boot Camp with Angie Weber from Body Squad at 9 a.m. (Bring your own mat) 
3. Free Kids Yoga on the Beach with Stachia Fey (10:30 a.m.). Ages six and up. Bring a towel.
4. Paddle Board Clinic and Rentals with Wai Nani Surf & Paddle (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) Register by calling 877.WAI.NANI. Ages 13 and older.
   
5. Junior and adults brackets Grass Volleyball Tournament (9 a.m. registration and 10 a.m. start/$25 player). Prizes and shirts.
6. Juniors and adult division 3-on-3 street basketball (9 a.m. registration and 10 a.m. start/$25 player). Prizes and shirts
7. Kids Zone: inflatables, character appearances and face painting. 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. $5 wristbands
8. Teen Zone: jousting, water gun and balloon fights, dunk tank. 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. $5 wristbands
9. Long Lake Fire Truck Appearance (11 a.m. to 1pm)
10. Gourmet Food Trucks (11 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
11. Adult Beverage Tent (12-10:30 p.m.) 
12. Comedy Hypnosis with Blaze Driscoll (7 p.m.)
13. Live Music All Day (12-11pm). Main stage bands: Brady Per (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.); Hitfakers (1-3 p.m.); Unlabeled (3-5 p.m.); Hot Dish (5-7 p.m.); Red Dot Garage (8-11:00 p.m.)
14. Fireworks (around 9:45 p.m.)
