Five Local Outdoor Activities You Can Do With the Family this Saturday

Make a day of it this Saturday, Aug. 17, and get the family outside to have breakfast on the farm, bike around Lake Minnetonka or weave a denim rug.

Breakfast on the Farm at Gale Woods

8:30 AM-Noon
Start your day at Gale Woods with a farm-fresh breakfast made from locally grown foods. Enjoy music and stroll the farm to meet the farm animals. Reservations required by Wednesday, August 14. 7210 County Road 110, Minnetrista. More information here.

Bike and Breakfast
Bike to Gale Woods for Breakfast on the Farm or bring your bike along and take a spin after breakfast. The Dakota Rail Regional Trail runs from downtown Wayzata along Lake Minnetonka with its beautiful views, through Mound, past Gale Woods and on to St. Bonifacius and Mayer to the west, 25.5 miles total. More information here.

Grimm Farm Open House

Step back in time and explore Wendelin Grimm's farm. See the restored 1870s house and fields where Grimm, a German immigrant, experimented with his alfalfa that transformed the Upper Midwest into America's dairy belt. State Highway 7 is closed at County Road 11/Kings Point Road.  To travel from Gale Woods Farm to Carver Park Reserve, travel east on County Road 110, south on County Road 44, east on State Highway 7, south on Rolling Acres Road, west on State Highway 5, and north on County Road 11 to the park.  More information here.
