With high humidity and 90-degree heat expected through the end of this week, a trip to the beach may be just what the doctor ordered for parents looking for a day of relaxation in the sun.

About two dozen public beaches ring Lake Minnetonka and the surrounding area, and all are open and ready for swimming and sunning. All are monitored regularly for water quality by Hennepin County and/or other government agencies.Click here for a larger map file and contact information for questions about specific beaches.
Several other public beaches, such as those operated by the Three Rivers Park District at the Lake Minnetonka Regional Park, are also open to the public for a nominal entrance fee.
