Minnetonka Nips Hopkins in Extra-Inning Thriller
The victory clinched a share of the Lake County Conference title for the Skippers, which it will share with Edina and Eden Prairie.
"Give me a chance," Minnetonka High School junior Luke "Petey" Petterson said to nobody in particular as he took a cut in the on deck circle. "I just want one chance to win this."
Twenty seconds later, with the bases loaded and the game tied at one in extra innings, Petterson was in an 0-2 hole and fighting to keep his at bat alive. After fouling off two curve balls, Pederson spanked a fastball sharply into left-center field—scoring Axel Twenge from third winning and giving the Skippers the win.
