Orono Fifth-Grade Girls Take Silver at State 3A Championship Tournament

The Orono fifth-grade blue girls basketball team took second place over the weekend in the State 3A Championship. Orono beat Moundsview, Cambridge Isanti and Cottage Grove to make it to the championship game to face a tough Farmington team.

At halftime, Orono was down by nine points, but with just seconds left in the game they tied the score at 31-31. The game went into OT, and though Farmington prevailed this incredible group of Orono fifth graders should be proud of their second-place finish.

Team members are: Malea Marxer, Lauren Reeves, Clare Gagne, Jada Kosek, Amelia Singleton, Heidi Luedeman, Kendall Mauer, Ellie Kostial, Sadie Koltes and Grace Larsen.
