Pitch In: Orono Baseball Players Collecting Equipment for Ugandan Little League Team
Donations of baseball equipment will be accepted at tryouts this Saturday at Orono High School and the morning of April 27 at OHS (Opening Day ceremonies).
From Jimmy Buck, Cade Pfeiffer and Michael Randall
We are Orono sixth-graders trying to collect used equipment donations for Ugandan Little League Baseball. After two failed attempts and many financial struggles, a team from Lugazi, Uganda, made it to the Little League World Series this past summer.
We feel that everybody should have an opportunity to play baseball. The youth baseball players in Uganda are in need of equipment and money. We are asking you to drop off any baseball equipment that you are no longer using.

- New baseballs and softballs
- Soft cover balls for Tee BallÂ
- Rubber baseball cleats
- Youth uniform pants (sets of 12, or more, if not white or gray)
- Youth uniform shirts and hats (sets of 12, or more)Â
- Umpire protective gearÂ
- Team equipment bags
- Sets of bases
- Batting tees
Donations of baseball equipment will be accepted at tryouts this Saturday at OHS, and the morning of April 27 at OHS (Opening Day ceremonies). Monetary donations payable to Pitch In for Baseball (a charity for Uganda Little League) can be mailed to Jimmy Buck at Orono Middle School.

Depending on the weather, we will collect at the check-in location for tryouts. We hope to make the lives of kids in Uganda a whole lot better.
Thank you!Â
