Sports Roundup: Tennis, Golf and Lacrosse

Softball: After winning the section tournament last week, Orono has advanced to the state tournament and will take on Elk River in opening round action this Thursday, June 6. Orono finished the regular season with a 20-3 record. This year's state tournament is being played in Mankato, and Thursday's game is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Wayzata has qualified for the 2013 Minnesota State Tennis Tournament as a team and takes on St. Cloud Tech today, June 4, at the Baseline Tennis Center at the U of M. If victorious, the boys will take on the winner of Maple Grove/Mahtomedi tomorrow, June 5, in second round action. Mound Westonka has qualified for the 2013 Class A Minnesota State Tennis Tournament as a team and takes on Luverne today, June 4, at the Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center. If victorious, the boys will take on the winner of Blake/Rochester Lourdes Tech tomorrow, June 5, in second round action. Boys Lacrosse: Wayzata, the No. 1 seed in Section 8, takes on No. 2 seed Orono in a regional rivalry game Wednesday, June 5, at Park Center High School. The game begins at 7 p.m., with the victor earning a berth in the state tournament. Boys Golf: The following Wayzata High School golfers have qualified for the 2013 Minnesota State Golf Tournament, which begins June 11 at Bunker Hills Golf Course: Jack Holmgren Van Holmgren Will Holmgren Daniel Chi Grant Rahja Tom St. Martin
