Thanks to Snowy Spring, Gale Woods Farm Taps Record Maple Syrup Cache

Summer camp registrations open now, "Saturday Mornings on the Farm" schedule and maple syrup season update.

Farm Update from Farmer Tim
While I am really glad it finally warmed up this past weekend for our Spring Into Farming celebration, the cold, snowy April that we all complained about was actually good for a few things. One of them was our syrup production. The maple sap flowed vigorously for about three weeks right up until last Sunday.

Tied our record for production—40 gallons of syrup from about 50 trees. That’s 1,600 gallons of sap we boiled down! Last time we made that much it was spread out over a whole month, but this year we produced that much in two weeks during which the evaporator was running almost non-stop. A big thanks to the volunteers and groups that helped us out collecting sap and tending the fire.

Come pick up a quart or a pint at the farm store!
