Tonka Bay City Hall Moves to Four-Day Work Week on Experimental Basis
City Hall will be open four days a week for 10 hours beginning next week. The experiment is scheduled to last for three months, at which time a decision will be made whether or not to continue with a four-day week.

The City of Tonka Bay will be switching to new office hours beginning next Monday, Aug. 5. The new office hours will be Monday through Thursday, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Below is a Q&A provided by the city and which was posted on its website late last week.
Q: Why is City Hall changing the office hours to Monday – Thursday?

A: A number of cities have moved their office hours to four, ten-hour workdays and have been given a positive response. City Hall will now be open earlier in the morning and later in the day to accommodate residents', contractors' and visitors’ schedules. Â
Q: Is this just for the summer?

A: No. This is a three month trial period the City is experimenting with. The trial will begin on August 5Â and run through the month of October. At the end of the trial period, the City will evaluate the new office hours and review feedback.Â
Q: Should I still make an appointment to meet with City Staff?
A: Yes. While City Staff is available to help you with your questions, sometimes there are other matters that they are addressing. You can feel free to walk-in and request to meet with City Staff but it is encouraged that you make an appointment to ensure their availability.Â
Q: Do these hours apply to Public Works?
A: No. The Public Works Department will keep the same hours of Monday – Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
