Two File For Three Open Wayzata School Board Seats So Far
The filing period runs July 30 through Aug. 13. The three incumbents have not filed yet.

As of the evening of Aug. 2Â only two people have filed for the three open seats on the Wayzata School Board.
Dan Haugen and Bill Pritchard, both of Plymouth, filed for the open seats on the board on Aug. 2.
No incumbents have filed so far. The seats for Susan Droegemueller, Susan Gaither and John Moroz expire at the beginning of 2014.
According to other media, the three may not seek re-election, but nothing has been made official.Â
The board has a total of seven members and the last new face to join was Cheryl Polzin whose term expires in 2016 along with Jay Hesby, Linda Cohen and Carter Peterson. Board members are elected at-large to four-year terms.Â
The candidate filing period for school district elections is from July 30 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 13. The filing fee is $2.

Elections for school board members are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November in odd-numbered years. The next scheduled election for school board members is Tuesday, Nov. 5.Â
A candidate for the school board must meet the following qualifications:
- Be at least 21-years-old at the time the term of office begins
- Have resided in the school district for 30 days prior to the election
- Be an eligible voter, which includes the requirement that the individual be a citizen of the U.S
- Be at least 18-years-old
- Be a citizen of the U.S.
- Be a resident of the school district and maintain residence in the district for 20 days immediately preceding the election
