Wayzata Man Arrested With Blood Alcohol Level of .37

Police were called to the 500 block of Broadway Avenue twice in 30 minutes, eventually arresting a Wayzata man whose blood alcohol content registered a .371.

A 49-year-old Wayzata man whose blood alcohol content was reportedly almost five times the legal limit to drive was arrested this week following an altercation on the 500 block of Broadway Avenue.

Police had a pair of interactions with John Rogers Patch Monday, Aug. 12, according to the criminal complaint filed earlier this week and signed by Wayzata Police Chief Mike Risvold. The first took place around 1 p.m. when officers were called to the residence of Patch’s estranged wife, who did not wish to see him.

About 30 minutes later police were called again after Patch became belligerent and violent while inside a home across the street from his estranged wife’s. The behavior included grabbing the breast and buttocks of one individual and threatening to kill another when he attempted to intervene.

Patch went on to tell police he wanted both individuals dead and didn’t care about the seriousness of the threats he was making. Patch’s blood alcohol content at the scene was .371, according to the complaint.

Patch now faces a pair of criminal charges: one count of making felony-level terroristic threats and one count of gross misdemeanor sexual assault.
