Draft of MN Bicycle Map Available at State Fair

We are pleased to release the first draft of the new Minnesota Bicycle Map at the State Fair! Come check it out in the Kick Gas exhibit in the Eco Experience Building or view it online at www.mndot.gov/bike/maps/

More than 2,000 people who bicycle in Minnesota have already told us which information is most important to display on the Minnesota Bicycle Map. Now we need to ensure it meets your needs. The information you provide will help us create a more accurate, usable map.

Tell your friends and family to take a look and give us their feedback. We're accepting information through Sept. 10.

Background

The 2013 Minnesota Bicycle Map will provide route information for bicyclists who want to travel to any part of the state. This map is meant for bicyclists traveling long distances in all parts of Minnesota. It will be an electronic, printable map that can easily be updated in the future.

Unfortunately, printed copies of this map are not available at this time. We are currently exploring different formats. Filling out the survey will help us make decisions about printing the map.

At the time this map was created, rumble strip data was not available. We recognize that this is important information for bicycling and is working to include this information on the next iteration of the map.

Other Bicycle Maps

Usable, readable maps cannot include every road in the state. This map includes major federal, state, and county highways as well as shared-use-paths/trails. Local cities, counties, and regions are the experts for local bicycling information. Many of these maps are available at www.mndot.gov/bike/maps/.
