Brief: Power Outage in Mendota Heights Caused by Cable Failure

Over a thousand customers affected by Sunday night's outage.

If you felt a bit in the dark last night, you’re not alone.

A power outage was reported Sunday night in parts of Mendota Heights, St. Paul and West St. Paul after a cable failed at a local substation, according to an Xcel Energy spokesperson.

A total of 1,736 customers were affected by the outage, which lasted from 11:36 p.m. to 12:37 a.m.

Xcel does not keep statistics on how many employees were late due to a blinking alarm clock in the morning.
