Brief: Cadets Receive 'Heroes in the Making' Award
After setting two consecutive records for food donation, Cadets are recognized by Minnesota FoodShare.
Students at donated seven tons of food last year during their Advocacy of the Hungry Food Drive.
The feat broke Neighborhood House food shelf’s one-time donation record—set by St. Thomas Academy the previous year.
To honor that effort, Minnesota FoodShare awarded St. Thomas Academy their “Heroes in the Making Award” on Wednesday. The school’s campus ministers will be recognized March 30 during the Minnesota Timberwolves halftime show.

“Our students recognized the critical need in our community,” said Jane Doyle, theology instructor at Saint Thomas Academy, in a statement. “They made a difference by advocating for others and in doing so set an example of compassion. We are so proud of their efforts and this honor.”
This year’s is underway. Students will be collecting food in their neighborhoods through March 5. The goal this year? Eight tons to be donated to Neighborhood House.
