Dakota County Teen Who Died In Snowmobile Accident Identified
The 18-year-old had crashed into the shoreline of Birch Island, according to a news release.
MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN—A teen from Mendota died in a snowmobile crash on Friday, the Cass County Sheriff’s Department announced Saturday in a news release.
The teen has been identified by the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office as 18-year-old Berkley Duckson, according to the Star Tribune.
The sheriff’s office received a report of a snowmobile crash with serious injuries on Gull Lake near Birch Island on Friday at 11:18 p.m., the release said.

The report said that deputies and responders found a snowmobile had crashed into the shoreline of Birch Island, the release said.
The driver of the snowmobile was an 18-year-old from Mendota, who was found at the scene. His friend who was also snowmobiling in the area had attempted CPR. The teen was airlifted to a hospital in St. Cloud where he was pronounced dead, the release said.

The release said that an autopsy is scheduled with the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office and that this investigation is continuing. The teen has not been identified.
Sheriff Burch said in the release that this is the fourth serious snowmobile crash in Cass County in February.
