LIFTED: Drinking Water Advisory Issued for West St. Paul

St. Paul Regional Water Services has issued a drinking water advisory for residents in West St. Paul along the Mendota Heights border.

St. Paul Water supplies water to West St. Paul, Mendota Heights, Mendota, Lilydale and South St. Paul in northern Dakota County.

Loss of pressure in a water station pump during a power outage this morning made the water supply more susceptible to contamination.

Residents should boil their water before using it for drinking, brushing their teeth, cooking, washing dishes or filling ice trays.

“We will inform you when tests show no bacteria and a positive chlorine residual throughout the distribution system,” said the Steve Schnieder, general manager of St. Paul Water, in the advisory. “We anticipate solving the problem within 24 hours.”

Mendota Heights Police Chief Mike Aschenbrener described it as a precautionary measure.
