Dakota County Native Prairie Workshop Aug. 18, 25

If you’ve ever thought about adding native plants to your yard, an upcoming workshop from Dakota County Parks will teach you how.

The two-part workshop, held Aug. 18 and 25, 6 to 8 p.m. at Spring Lake Park Reserve, will teach you how to prepare your yard for a prairie installation, give you tips on choosing the right seed mix and plants as well as address both positive and negative aspects of going with native plants.

Native plants can provide a natural, regional look as they grow naturally in this area and date back to before the European settlers came to the area.
