Labor Day weekend has a bit of everything to offer.

Why Go: Jawaahir Dance Company is a Middle Eastern dance company and school based out of Minneapolis. Bring the family for a festive, fun dance experience.

2.)

When/Where: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2; 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3/ , 12600 Nicollet Ave, Burnsville

Why Go: Visit the Burnsville Performing Arts Center for the final days of this fine art exhibit. The works of three artists are on display for their use of texture and belief in a source of inspiration.

When/Where: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3; Noon-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4; and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 5/ Historic Fort Snelling, 200 Tower Avenue, St. Paul; Sibley House Historic Site, 1357 Sibley Memorial Highway

Why Go: Visit Fort Snelling and the over Labor Day Weekend to see different types of work performed at harvest time in the 1800s. A free shuttle will be available between sites.

Pricing: $14 adults, $11 seniors and college students, $8 children ages 6-17; $5 for MHS members

 

4.) Como Town

When/Where: 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Sept. 2-3; 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday-Monday, Sept. 4-5/1301 Midway Parkway, St. Paul

Why Go: If the Minnesota State Fair is a bit overwhelming for your kids age 2-12, try out Como Town. A $6 off coupon for unlimited ride wristbands is available through the end of the State Fair for this pint-sized amusement park.

Pricing: Admission is free, an unlimited ride wristband with coupon is $12. 95

When/Where: 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4/ Historic Fort Snelling, 200 Tower Avenue, St. Paul

Why Go: If you’re looking for a more recent slice of Minnesota history, take this walking tour and learn what life was like in the barracks and other buildings of Minnesota’s largest military base during WWII.
