MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN— Over a year into the pandemic, restaurants and businesses are beginning to open back up to 75 percent capacity.

There don't seem to be any restrictions on outdoor activities which is perfect for Easter egg hunting.

Eggs are a symbol of rebirth and fertility, which is a common explanation for why they are associated with the resurrection of Jesus. Another possible explanation is that Christians weren't allowed to consume animal products during Lent, so they boiled eggs to eat on Easter, TIME said.

Here's where you can hunt for Easter eggs near Mendota Heights:

  • Phalen Recreation Centerin St. Paul will be the location of the "2021 Easter Eggstravaganza" hosted by Mosaic Christian Community and Jourdan Suos. The event is at April 3 at 10 a.m. and will have fun games for the whole family to enjoy. Each family will need to reserve a 45-minute time slot.
  • RiverLife Church in St. Paul is hosting an "Easter Walk-Through EGGstravaganza" on April 4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will feature a mini Easter egg hunt, as well as dinosaur eggs and Jesus' empty tomb. The walk will also have games and photo booths.

The White House hosts an annual Easter egg roll, a tradition that began in 1876, but this event has been cancelled for 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
