I-494 In Mendota Heights Closing Aug. 14
The closures are a part of the Minnesota Department of Transportation's "Around the Airport" project.
MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN — Motorists traveling near the the Minnesota Department of Transportation's "Around the Airport" project will see some traffic changes starting Friday, Aug. 14.
Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, eastbound Interstate 494 will close between Highway 5 in Bloomington and I-35E in Mendota Heights. The eastbound I-494 ramp to and from Pilot Knob Road also will close at 7 p.m. Eastbound I-494 is expected to open by 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17.
Traffic will be detoured around the closure via southbound Highway 77/Cedar Avenue and northbound I-35E.

Highway 5
Eastbound Highway 5 between I-494 and Highway 55/62, which has been closed since April, will reopen Aug. 14. Westbound Highway 5 between Highway 55/62 and I-494 will close after crews reopen the eastbound lanes.
Westbound Highway 5 motorists who wish to access Terminal 1 at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport will follow the signed detour using westbound Highway 55/62 to southbound Highway 77 to eastbound Highway 5.

The Around the Airport project is making improvements to I-494 and Highway 5 near the airport. During the closures, motorists should plan ahead and give themselves additional time to reach their destinations.
