Lane Shifts, Ramp Closures On I-494 In Dakota County
Crews will begin shifting traffic to the outside lanes of I-494 over the Wakota Bridge.

DAKOTA COUNTY, MN — Motorists traveling on westbound I-494 between Highway 61 in Newport and Blaine Avenue in Inver Grove Heights should plan for delays as westbound I-494 traffic is shifted to the outside lanes and ramps close beginning at 7 p.m. Aug. 7.
Beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, crews will begin shifting traffic to the outside lanes of I-494 over the Wakota Bridge.
Three lanes of traffic on westbound I-494 will remain open however, the ramp from Maxwell Avenue will be closed and detoured to Bailey Road, eastbound I-494 and Lake Road to access westbound I-494.

The westbound ramps at Concord Street will also close and be detoured to Hardman Avenue.
These traffic shifts and ramp closures are part of a larger project on I-494 where crews will widen, resurface and replace bridge joints on the Concord Street-Highway 156 bridge, construct auxiliary lanes on westbound I-494 between Hardman Ave. to west of 5th Ave., improve drainage and construct noise walls.
