Mendota Heights Rep. Proposes Bill To Prevent Early Suspension
The bill would prevent suspension and expulsion in young students, instead offering support for students acting out.

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN— Mendota Heights representative in the Minnesota House Ruth Richardson proposed a bill that would prevent early childhood students from being suspended or expelled, KSTP reported.
Richardson said that in many schools, there is a pattern to which students get suspended or expelled, usually Black, Indigenous, or students with disabilities, KSTP reported.
Exceptions to this bill would be if a student poses a threat to themselves or others, or if all other disciplinary methods have been exhausted, KSTP reported.
