DAKOTA COUNTY, MN — The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Dakota County and the rest of the Twin Cities metro area. Up to 8 inches of snow could fall in the south metro.

Winds could gust as high as 45 mph between Thursday morning and Friday, with blowing snow making travel very difficult. Gusty winds will make visibility low and they could bring down tree branches.

"Total snowfall accumulations of 4 to 9 inches are expected, but they will occur over a long duration of time, with snowfall rates expected to remain below an inch per hour for most if not all of the event," notes the NWS.
