Name Change Committee Seeks Ideas To Replace 'Henry Sibley'

The decision to rename the school was made in December.

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN— The name change committee for Henry Sibley High School is seeking ideas, Independent School District 197 said.

The decision to change the school's name was made in December after lobbyists pointed out that Sibley, first governor of Minnesota, assisted in the hanging of 38 indigenous men.

The committee was formed on Tuesday, after school officials reviewed applications.
