National Taco Day Means Tasty Deals In Minnesota

MINNESOTA — Thursday is National Taco Day and you know what that means — great deals and freebies on tacos. That’s right. Lettuce, tomato, chicken, sour cream and guacamole all inside a flour (or corn) tortilla never tasted so good. Among the major national retailers offering deals: Taco Bell, Qdoba, Moe’s Southwest Grill, California Tortilla, Del Taco and Chuy’s.

Many chains are offering buy-one-get-one-free deals, but some are simply giving away tacos for free or for no more than $1. One restaurant is even giving away a shirt that will get you free tacos for an entire year.

If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, you can head over to Cold Stone Creamery and buy Waffle Tacos (yes, really) on Thursday only.

Here’s the complete list of restaurants offering deals as well as details about how you can score discounted tacos.

• Del Taco
  • Del Taco is offering a buy-one-get-one free deal on shredded beef soft tacos. Just download a coupon from its website and present it to the cashier. Limit one coupon per customer.
• El Fenix
  • El Fenix is offering $1 beef or chicken soft or crunchy tacos. Limit three per guest.
• Fajita Pete’s
  • Fajita Pete’s is giving away a free chicken or beef fajita taco, limit one per person. The promotion is only being offered in stores — no purchase necessary — from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Jimboy’s Tacos
  • Buy-one-get-one free on original ground beef taco. The deal is available at some locations in California and Nevada.
• On the Border
  • Offering endless supply of seasoned ground beef or chicken tinga tacos for $8.99. The tacos come with Mexican rice, refried beans and bottomless chips and salsa. Groups can receive 15 percent off orders of taco buffets totaling at least $200 between Oct. 1 and Oct. 7. You have to mention TACO18 or enter it as a coupon code for online orders.
• Taco Bell
  • Taco Bell is offering a Taco Day Gift Set, which includes a Crunchy Taco, a Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Taco, a Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco and a Fiery Doritos Locos taco for $5.
• Taco Bueno
  • Taco Bueno is giving away one of its all-new scratch-made Texas Street Tacos with any adult entrée purchase. Then, through Nov. 12, Texas Street Tacos are available for three for $5.
• Taco John’s
  • From Oct. 1 through Oct. 5, guests at Taco John’s can receive a free crispy beef taco by using the Taco John’s Rewards app. Customers must present the coupon.
• Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant
  • You can buy a taco Family Feast through Oct. 29. Choose from a taco pack to-go for six people for $21.99 or $41.99 for 12 people.
• Bahama Breeze Island Grille
  • You can buy the restaurant’s Rum & Coke Chicken and Ribs through Thursday as part of its Rumtoberfest. The event runs through Oct. 28.
• Bill Miller Bar-B-Q
  • Bean and cheese tacos will be offered for 65 cents a piece.
• California Tortilla
  • Buy-one-get-one free tacos. The Blackened Fish, California Sunset, Korean BBQ and Crunchy BBQ Ranch street tacos are included. Limit five per person.
• Chronic Tacos
  • Free taco offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. You must provide the secret word “Taco Life.”
• Chuy's
  • You can tack on a crispy beef taco to any order for $1 and get $1 off Modelo beers. You can score a free meal by going to the restaurant dressed as a taco and posting a picture on social media with the hashtag #NationalTacoDay.
• Cold Stone Creamery
  • You can buy Waffle Tacos on Thursday only.
• El Pollo Loco
  • You can get a free Chicken Taco al Carbon at some locations. You can also enter to win a limited-edition taco shirt that will allow you to get free tacos for a year.
• El Fenix
  • You can buy $1 beef or chicken soft or crunchy tacos. Limit three per guest.
• Fuzzy’s Taco Shop
  • You can buy $1 tacos all-day, though some items are excluded from the deal.
• Green Leaf’s Beyond Great Salads
  • You can get a free Baja Street Taco at some locations with a coupon.
• Moe's Southwest Grill
  • Those in the restaurants loyalty rewards program can get a free taco when they buy two. The deal is good from Thursday to Sunday.
• Qdoba
  • Qdoba rewards program members can score up to three times the points on their food. The deal does not apply to catering orders.
• Red Robin
  • You can order a Taco Tavern Double with bottomless steak fries for $6.99 for a limited time.
• Rubio’s Coastal Grill
  • Score a free Original Fish Taco when you buy a drink and a coupon at some locations.
• Taco Cabana
  • Score a free Shredded Chicken Taco or Ground Beef Taco between 3 p.m. and midnight with a coupon. Limit one per guest, per visit and per transaction at some locations.
• Tijuana Flats
  • You can buy two tacos, chips and a drink for $5.99 or get a burrito or bowl with chips and a drink for the same price.
• Torchy’s Tacos
  • You could win a gift card if you dine in Thursday. Five guests at each location will be given a gold paper lined basket that can be redeemed for a gift card.
