New Music By Prince Will Be Released Friday

The new music entitled "Piano & A Microphone 1983" is from a 35-year-old cassette Prince recorded.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - Prince fans got some good news on Tuesday as Warner Bros. Records announced it is releasing new music by Prince. The new music will be released Friday on CD, vinyl and digital formats.

The new music entitled “Piano & A Microphone 1983” is from a 35-year-old cassette Prince recorded of himself playing piano and singing at his home studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota. The cassette showcases his jazzy piano playing.

The music is presented as Prince recorded it. The songs include “17 Days,” “Purple Rain,” “International Lover,” “Strange Relationship” and Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You.” The cassette was found in Prince’s vault.

Prince, who died in 2016, also sings the spiritual “Mary Don’t You Weep,” which plays over the end credits of Spike Lee’s movie “BlacKkKlansman.”
