TWIN CITIES, MN — Residents in the east Twin Cities metro Tuesday woke up to find pieces of ash in their yards that came from a massive blaze overnight in downtown St. Paul. Smoke and haze filled the air as well.

St. Paul crews responded to the fire at a construction site near the Xcel Energy Center just after 4 a.m. Firefighters fought the blaze from the exterior "because of the advanced stage of the fire," officials said in a release. No injuries have been reported.

The fire is under investigation.
