Saint Thomas Academy Names Director Of Athletics And Activities

The new director will begin his new position June 14.

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN— Saint Thomas Academy announced Tuesday its new Director of Athletics and Activities.

Greg May will begin his new position June 14, the school said.

May is currently director of hockey operations for the University of Minnesota men’s hockey program, the school said.

At Saint Thomas Academy, May will direct 35 sports teams in 15 different sports, 43 activities and clubs, and over 100 coaches and moderators, the school said.

May has a master's degree in educational leadership from Concordia University-St. Paul and a bachelor's degrees in both health and physical education from Augsburg University, the school said.

Before his position at the University of Minnesota, May was associate director of athletics for The Blake School where he was assistant coach for the boy's varsity golf team and head coach for the boy's varsity hockey team, the school said.

From 2008 to 2016, May was a health and physical education teacher for Independent School District 191, where he also was assistant coach for boy's hockey, boy's lacrosse and boy's golf, the school said. He also was selected the Section 2AA assistant hockey coach of the year in 2012, the school said.

May additionally was head hockey coach for Farmington Public Schools from 2014 to 2016 where he was named was named Section 1AA Head Coach of the Year in 2016, the school said.

“We place a high value on athletics and activities because they are an important component of the Cadet experience and help reinforce our commitment to character development,” Kelby Woodard, headmaster of Saint Thomas Academy said. “Ninety-five percent of our boys participate in at least one activity or sport. As head over all our athletics and activities, Greg will be integral to shaping a positive Cadet experience for our boys.”
