Twin Cities Weather: Tornado Watch Issued For Metro Area

The watch affecting Hennepin, Dakota, Ramsey and Washington counties, among others, is in effect until 10 p.m. Friday.

TWIN CITIES, MN — A tornado watch has been issued for much of Central Minnesota, including the Twin Cities, until 10 p.m. Friday. According to the National Weather Service, the watch is accompanied by potential threats of severe thunderstorms, apple-sized hail and damaging wind gusts.

The tornado watch accompanies an excessive heat warning for the area, which is also in effect until 10 p.m. A cold front is expected to move across the metro this evening, bringing relief from the heat in the form of cooler temperatures.
