Why Does Mendota Heights' Rogers Lake Need an Aerator?

The aerator was turned on Thursday at Rogers Lake Park, and fishers should rejoice. The aerator circulates water in the lake, which helps increase the oxygen levels in the water.

While aerators are not the best option for all lakes, city officials say the extra oxygen is needed for the fish and vegetation to survive in Rogers Lake during the winter, because the lake is very shallow.

Officials ask residents to please use extra caution while around the aerator at Rogers Lake.
