2016 Was Wettest Year on Record for Twin Cities
It's official, 2016 will go down as the wettest year in the Twin Cities since records began back in 1871.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – It's official, 2016 will go down as the wettest year in the Twin Cities since records began back in 1871. So far, a total of 40.32 inches of precipitation has fallen in the metro, eclipsing the previous record of 40.15 inches back in 1911, according to the National Weather Service.
Towns near the Mississipi River saw severe flooding this summer. Sewage systems in urban and suburban areas were overfilled during flash flood events after severe thunderstorms. In September, snowplows were used to push rainwater off Interstate 94.

- 1911 - 40.15 inches
- 1965 - 39.94 inches
- 1983 - 39.07 inches
- 1881 - 39.06 inches
