Chase Bank Opens First Twin Cities Branch

The bank, located at 606 S.E. Washington Ave. in Minneapolis, emphasizes digital options available to customers by keeping tellers hidden.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — JPMorgan Chase has opened its first retail bank in the Twin Cities area, according to a report. The location is the first of many to come, and its design hopes to train customers that nearly all forms of banking today can be done online.

The branch, located at 606 S.E. Washington Ave. in Minneapolis, has a digital-age feel, hiding the tellers behind scrims that rise to the ceiling, the Star Tribune reported. While tellers will be available if needed, Chase executives and designers told the newspaper they believe removing the visual element of teller desks and a line for tellers will change customer habits, reminding them of available digital options.

In addition to this new location and a 14-year-old Chase commercial bank in downtown Minneapolis, JPMorgan Chase plans to open 25 more branches in the Twin Cities over the next five years. This includes locations in Saint Paul and St. Louis Park.
