Despite Arctic Blast, Twin Cities Saw Above-Average December

For the 16th month in a row, the Twin Cities finished with an above-average temperature.

The final numbers for December of 2016 are in. Despite a nearly 10 day stretch in the middle of the month spent in arctic air, very mild temperatures before and after resulted in December finishing slightly above normal for the average temperature, according to the National Weather Service.

This marks the 16th month in a row Minneapolis-Saint Paul has finished with an above average temperature. Also continuing a common theme for 2016 was the precipitation, which finished above normal as well.

Simply put, 2016 was warm and wet in the Twin Cities.
