MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Severe thunderstorms including large hail and damaging winds are forecast for Sunday night in west and central Minnesota Sunday night, and are expected to give way for extreme temperatures Monday, the National Weather Service says.

There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms in far western Minnesota and a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms on central through southwestern Minnesota. The main hazards are large hail and damaging winds, weather observers say.

High temperatures in the middle 90s are expected for southern Minnesota, including the Twin Cities metro, on Monday which will create the potential for heat-related illnesses if participating in outdoor activities, according to the NWS.
