Falcon View Connections Academy Recognizes Local Student

Student of the Month Award recognizes achievements in and out of the virtual classroom

Tristan Fedie of Minneapolis, is a 5th grade student at Falcon View Connections Academy. He came to the statewide online school in October in search of a learning environment that better suited his individual needs.

According to his mother Wendy Elofson, Tristan has ADHD and needs more flexibility in his daily school schedule that enables him to have shorter days, to take breaks when necessary and choose the order of the subjects in which he works. Attending Falcon View Connections Academy has made a significant difference.

“He is quite a success story for the program,” Wendy said. “We left a private school in October after it was clear it couldn't accommodate his needs. Falcon View has been a God send to us. Miss Drexler (Tristan’s teacher) has been a huge blessing for us as well. He is back to liking school and soaring academically.”

Outside of the virtual classroom, Tristan is an animal lover, particularly dogs. During his breaks, he’ll stop to hug his three dogs Curly, Dora, and Louis. When the weather is nice, he spends a lot of time riding his bike with his sister, Jolie.

Tristan’s biggest hobby, other than being a major video gamer, is anything having to do with cars. He currently has a collection of hundreds of Hot Wheel cars. He also likes to attend car shows with his dad. His favorite television programs are Grand Tour and Jay Leno's Garage.

In recognition of Tristan’s hard work and determination to succeed in school, he was named Falcon View Connections Academy’s Student of the Month for April. His teacher Leah Drexler nominated Tristan as he goes above and beyond what is required.

“Tristan is an incredible student. He has high expectations for his own work and is extremely self-motivated to stay on top of his daily assignments,” Ms. Drexler said. “He has many interests that he often shares with the class and he often brings everyone together in conversations.”
