Frozen Grass: Local Garden Home to Strange Winter Phenomenon

Cold weather has arrived, but most of the ground is still green and brown. That rare mix made for an interesting scene at a local garden.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Cold winter weather has arrived in the Twin Cities, but most of the ground is still green and brown. That rare mix made for an interesting scene at the Longfellow Gardens this week, located at Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis.

On Friday, the garden posted an image on their Facebook page showing green blades of grass perfectly frozen in time.

"What can we say? Perfection," the garden wrote.

The strange winter phenomenon likely won't be around for much longer. A slow moving low-pressure system will bring a snowy weekend to much of the Twin Cities metro. The snow will spread into western Minnesota Saturday morning and into eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin during the afternoon and evening hours.
