Minneapolis Apartment Building Damaged In Weekend Fire

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — No injuries were reported after a Sunday morning fire in Minneapolis damaged a three-story apartment building.

The fire broke out just after 4 a.m. in the 700 block of Olson Memorial Highway, according to a social media post from Minneapolis Fire. First responders reported seeing flames on the building's second and third floors, as well as from the roof.

The building was searched and evacuated, officials said. A short time later, fire crews also evacuated the building after it was determined that the fire had compromised the roof.

Additional crews were brought in to help battle the blaze, and it was declared under control just after 5:30 a.m., officials said. Gas and other utilities to the building were turned off.

Officials said an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. Patch reached out Minneapolis Fire for more information but did not receive an immediate response.
