Minneapolis Fireworks 2019: Everything You Need To Know

From the best viewing sites to where to park, here is what you need to know about the Fourth of July fireworks display.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Celebrate Independence Day on the downtown Minneapolis riverfront during this year’s Red, White and Boom. Each year, Minneapolis’ Fourth of July festivities attract nearly 75,000 people downtown to take in the festivities and snag the best seat for fireworks.

This year’s Red, White and Boom is scheduled throughout the day on July 4, kicking off at 6:50 a.m. with the Red, White and Boom! TC 5K. From 6-10 p.m., enjoy live music, food vendors and family activities. Close the evening with the annual fireworks display at 10 p.m.

WEATHER FORECAST

Keep your fingers crossed for clear skies on Thursday as the current Minneapolis-area weather forecast calls for a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms during the day and a 30 percent chance in the evening, according to the National Weather Service. The temperature is forecast to peak at 86 degrees.

PARKING

The City of Minneapolis will not enforce metered street parking on the Fourth of July. However, it’s important to note not all metered spaces in Minneapolis are operated by the city. Minneapolis Parks & Recreation, the University of Minnesota and other private organizations operate their own meters and their holiday schedule may vary.

TRANSPORTATION

Event organizers encourage car-pooling, biking or using Metro Transit, as parking will be limited. Be sure the use Metro Transit’s interactive trip planner to see which bus line you should take.

Be aware — there will be road closures downtown on the way to the Red, White and Boom festivities. Check with Minnesota Parks & Rec for updates.
