Minneapolis Police Set New Rules For Body Camera Use: Report

The department announced the changes after being criticized for not tracking officers use of the cameras.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – When responding to emergencies, Minneapolis police officers must now activate their body cameras two blocks before they arrive at the scene, reports The Minneapolis Star Tribune. And, if officers fail to turn on the cameras, they could face discipline for violating the new policy, which was announced Wednesday morning. The change comes after the department was criticized because some officers were skirting the rules on when the cameras were activated. Police officials admitted previously that officers usage of the cameras was not being tracked.
