Minnesota Coronavirus: 1,336 Confirmed Cases; 7 More Deaths

The latest numbers from the Minnesota Department of Health show that over 90 additional coronavirus cases have been confirmed.

Seven additional deaths from the new coronavirus were reported in Minnesota on Friday, bringing the total number of deaths in the state from the illness to 57. The latest numbers from the Minnesota Department of Health show that 1,336 people are confirmed to have the illness in the state.

The number of confirmed cases on Friday represents an increase of 94 cases from Thursday. The majority of the state's cases and deaths are concentrated in Hennepin County. Olmsted and Ramsey counties have the second and third highest number of cases in the state.

Nearly 34,000 tests for the virus that causes COVID-19 have been conducted in Minnesota, with the majority of these tests having been performed in private labs.

Over 300 Minnesotans have had to be hospitalized due to the illness and as of Friday afternoon, 143 patients were in the hospital and 64 patients are in the intensive care unit.

The department says that 732 patients no longer require isolation.
