Minnesota heads to Madison looking to win nine games in a season for the first time in 13 years. The Golden Gophers also sport a 5-3 record in the Big Ten and sit tied with Iowa in second place one game behind Big Ten West leaders Wisconsin (6-2) and Nebraska (6-2).

Minnesota continued its impressive season Saturday when it crushed a solid Northwestern team. Minnesota jumped in front 12-0 by halftime and never looked back, holding the Wildcats to two touchdowns and only 63 yards rushing. Gophers quarterback Mitch Leidner paced the offense with 197 passing yards and a touchdown while the team’s rushing attack ran for 131 yards and two touchdowns.

The Badgers demolished Purdue on Saturday by a 49-20 score and continued to make its mark as perhaps the best two-loss team in the country. The Boilermakers actually led 3-0 after the first quarter, but Wisconsin exploded for 35 second-quarter points and never looked back. The Badgers rushed for 221 yards and 4 touchdowns, with three of those rushing scores coming in the second quarter. Corey Clement led Wisconsin with 112 yards on the ground and a touchdown, while teammate Bradrick Shaw added 68 rushing yards and two scores.
