More than 54,400 Minnesotans have tested positive for COVID-19 and 1,600 have died, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.

The figures reported Friday include 779 new cases and six deaths.

Approximately 1,024,916 tests have been completed. As of 4 p.m. Thursday, 312 Minnesotans were hospitalized with COVID-19, 151 of them in intensive care units.

Of the 54,463 people who have tested positive, 47,289 no longer need to be isolated.
