Minnesota Weather: Rain, Flooding Possible Christmas Day

Temperatures will remain mild for the balance of the work week, but if you were wishing for thunderstorms for Christmas, you may be in luck. A powerful storm will develop over the Plains Christmas Day.

It continues to look like a wintry mix on Christmas morning will change to rain by afternoon in the Twin Cities as well as points east and south.

Rainfall amounts may exceed an inch Sunday afternoon and evening, leading to flooding issues. The best chance for snow with this system is to the north and west of Alexandria, Minnesota.

If you live in town make sure your drains are clear of snow or ice. If you live near a river, be on the lookout for ice jam flooding.
