Twin Cities Traffic: Freeway Closures Planned This Weekend
According to reports, MnDOT is planning several closures and projects throughout the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area over the coming days.
It could be a challenging weekend of travel around the Twin Cities area. With construction projects ramping up, the Minnesota Department of Transportation is warning motorists of several freeway closures taking place over the coming days, according to reports.
MnDOT plans to close portions of Interstate 94, Interstate 694 and Interstate 35W, in addition to a bridge demolition project affecting Highway 12 in Wayzata, the Star-Tribune reported. Weekend-long road closures will affect I-94 in Saint Paul’s Midway area, I-694 in Little Canada and I-35W through south Minneapolis.
Traveling by light rail could also prove challenging this weekend. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. on June 28, buses will replace Blue Line trains from Franklin Ave. to Target Field Station and Green Line trains from Stadium Village to Target Field Station.
