Adath Jeshurun Congregation Celebrates 18 Years in Minnetonka

The Adath Chai Benefit and Celebration Dinner festivities kick off at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25.

Adath Jeshurun Congregation is celebrating 18 years in its Minnetonka home and will be honoring members of the original Steering Committee for the building of Adath at its Thursday, April 25 Benefit.

Adath Chai Benefit and Celebration Dinner festivities kick off at 5:30 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres sponsored by Adath’s TAMID Committee. TAMID is the cultural arts commission of Adath and is led by Cantor Scott Buckner, who is just completing his 18th year at Adath. He came on board when the Minnetonka building was still under construction.

The Benefit Dinner will be prepared by chefs, Heidi and Stewart Woodman. They own “Birdhouse” restaurant on Hennepin and “Heidi’s” in Uptown. Chef Stewart Woodman is renowned for both his astonishing creativity and the remarkable simplicity of his dishes. He has been honored by Food & Wine Magazine.

As part of Adath’s benefit festivities, a video of the synagogue’s construction process and highlights of the events that have taken place during the past 18 years will be shown.

Everyone is encouraged to purchase a congratulatory ad in an electronic "program book," or send thoughtful memories about the founders/committee members that helped make the new building a reality. The ads will be made available online after the dinner.

The Chai celebration name is apropos since Chai’s numeric value is 18, and the word also means “Life.” Adath found new life in its Minnetonka location.
